Did I ever mention that I can't stand the cold? I didn't seem to mind it when I was a kid! I don't think that I was ever inside. We were always out skating or sledding... even as a teenager, and I never complained about the cold, but as I get older, I am feeling the temps and I'm not impressed. Maybe it's because I'm out shoveling the driveway and you can't really put that up there with skating or sledding, but anyway, I like this scarf, head cover... what ever you want to call it. And if it's not needed, you just use the thing as an elaborate scarf. THAT works for me ;)

Are you one of those women, who love heels and are comfortable in them or do you prefer flat boots? I do love heels, I have to admit, but if there is a spot of ice out there, I will find it. It might have something to do with my balance now that I think about it. I have literally walked off the edge of sidewalks and twisted my ankle. With "flat boots" I think I stand a better chance of not taking a tumble when I walk off that sidewalk. Now for dinners out, that's another story. The higher the better, as long as I have someone to hold on to lol.

Losing My Wallet!

That's exactly what I did a few days ago. I had pulled my wallet out to pay for gas and I guess I never put it back into my handbag. The best I can come up with is that it lay in my lap until I got out of the car. That's when it fell onto the parking lot and I never noticed that it was missing until about an hour later when I reached for my wallet... in the store. I made my way back to the car, thinking that it had to be IN THE CAR, and that's when I saw it... lying on the ground next to the car! I don't even want to think about what could have happened!

Plan on being a whole lot more careful in the future!

I don't know whose idea it was to remove the lint traps from new washing machines, but they have and I have been fighting lint for the last couple of years and I was spending more time trying to rub off the lint than I really wanted to. There had to be a better way. So I went looking and found that adding a 1/2 cup of vinegar would prevent the the lint from forming. I was dubious, but I decided to try it just in case. I just finished hanging out the laundry and it ACTUALLY WORKS!!

I will be stocking up on vinegar!! It isn't just for french fries any more!! Just thought that I would pass it on!!

1. BLONDE TRICKS... work in chunky dark auburn streaks toward the front of the face. At the back, let a few streaks of auburn peak through the lighter tresses.

I did buy about a zillion paperclips while in university to make a divider for my teeny tiny room, but never a pair of earrings. This gift basket had been put together with the fashionista in mind. Lets look at the steps that you will need to take to put together an amazing gift basket to give to someone on your gift list or to sell.

So what could go into this basket? Oh you would be amazed at the interesting little items that would fit this theme. Just be sure that you give yourself enough time to really find unique items. And you just never know where you are going to find them, so be ready.

But to help you get started, I'm going to give you a list. Read it over and see if anything would appeal to "your friend" and then copy the items onto a sheet of paper and tuck it into your handbag. Every time you go shopping, read over the list to refresh your mind. But don't be surprised if you find items that aren't on the list. That's half the fun of putting together a gift basket! And you will have fun!

The Glove Compartment Gift Basket

1. notepad

2. pen or pencil

3. roll of coins for toll roads

4. a second notepad filled with emergency numbers

5. map

6. package of tissue

7. power bar

8. bottle of water

9. word search or crossword puzzle book for those times when you are WAITING...

10. mini first aid kit... obviously no drugs because of the heat/cold

Use any or all of the above items and if you can think of any new items, add those too! You know the recipient better than I do!

Your obvious choice for your "basket" would to be a nice..... but the choice is yours. I have even written an article on the different types of baskets you could use. They can be found here. They range anywhere from a garbage can to a frying pan!

Be sure to tie off the top with a ribbon and then make a funny card to go along with your Gift Basket. Or you could wrap the entire "basket" in cellophane so that your basket follows a more traditional style.

It's a rainy day here in Chicago and I'm not talking about a LITTLE rain, I'm talking about the kind that suddenly provides you with your very own swimming pool... in the basement. You can spend little and get pure rubbish or you can get to know your fabrics and buy what works for your lifestyle. Here's a few ideas...

Buy cotton. It's comfortable and breathable... and as long as you iron it on the right setting, it's a breeze to iron. If you use the wrong setting, you will iron the same shirt for hours!

Cashmere... believe it or not, it's my husband who owns the cashmere in our family. It prefers to be washed on the gentle cycle and then layed flat to dry. This advice is for sweaters... if you have a coat or jacket, obviously send it out to be dry cleaned.

Linen... is a pain in the neck because to loves to wrinkle. I had a gorgeous linen skirt once and if I moved... it wrinkled. Enough said!

Wool... I really try to avoid because of the cost and the fact that I can't stand the feel of it, but from what I have been reading, it's getting softer and softer. Another think I don't like about it is the fact that moths love the stuff! I did manage to find some "wool" socks for my daughter... who had put them on her Christmas list this year. She hates to have damp feet and the wool blend seems to wick the moisture away.

That seems to take care of most of the items in our closets these days and you can easily see where my preferences lay.

What was the last item you picked up this month to spark up your summer wardrobe? For me... it was two pairs of capris for physio... They are surprisingly more comfortable that I expected them to be. And they definitely are comfortable for a half hour physio session! I can see getting a lot of use out of them this summer... if the temps start to climb!!

I meant to pick up a charm when I was at my son's wedding last week and I completely forgot!! How could I do that?? I usually try to pick up a charm every time I go on vacation and this was one special vacation... my son's wedding and it took place in Jamaica! It was one amazing week.
